Once You Pop The Fun Don't Stop

Pringles Can Inventor Was Buried In One

Margaret Hartmann — Fredric Baur came up with the idea for stacking potato chips in a can, so when the 89-year-old died last month, his children honored him by burying his ashes in a Pringles can. "When my dad first raised the burial idea in the 1980s, I chuckled about it," says Baur's oldest son Larry. Eventually they realized he was serious and the siblings recently found themselves buying their dad's "coffin" in a Walgreens on the way to the funeral home. "My siblings and I briefly debated what flavor to use," Baur says, "but I said, 'Look, we need to use the original.'"
