Surf's Up
On Saturday, the 6th annual Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon competition took place in Del Mar, California, and the event, hosted by the Helen Woodward Animal Center, raised more than $100,000 for orphaned pooches.
The star of the weekend was Buddy, the 14-year old Jack Russell terrier, who not only became the first dog inducted into the Surf Dog Hall of Fame, but also won his fifth Surf-A-Thon title.
What A Great Pen Pal
He writes messages, encases them in bottles, throws then into the ocean and waits for a response.
He is one old school SOB.
Since May of 1996, he has sent 4,800 messages via the Atlantic and received over 3,000 messages back from all over the world.
He has received letters back from Africa, Russia, Holland, the UK, France, Scotland, Ireland, parts of New England, Florida, Norway and even the Bahamas.
Some messages are lost for 13 years before he hears a response...
The best part is that even after he gets a response back, he keeps in touch.
Why So Angry?
The Window of the World theme park in Changsha, China, opened a new section of their theme park, based on the popular mobile game Angry Birds.
In this section, guests can shoot stuffed birds via slingshot at pigs who are protected by small LEGO structures.
